Nice animation. Not sure about the value of the parody though.

Have you played the game? I realise this is a parody but I feel like this is coming from someone who is taking this on a very literal face value view - that is, main character is a cheer leader with awesome boobies. Which the game has a lot more going for it than that.

Playing on a rental right now and I'm having a blast. If you were going to do a parody there are a lot more things you could poke fun at in this game. Hell, it's a parody in itself if you think about it.

Speedo responds:

I've only watched playthroughs of the game, but I know exactly what the game is like. I was more focusing on the themes and what kind of audience the game would garner, but yeah, my number one regret with this is that I didn't really use any material from the game to make fun of

One star for completion and artwork.

That was REALLY hard work to sit through to the end of this animation. The script wasn't engaging to for me it was made less possible to enjoy because of the volume for your voice acting - it goes from inaudible because it's too low to hear anything or just loud enough, and the occasional almost blew my speakers levels.

The script just wasn't captivating for me at all in any essence. In your comments you said it was "vaguely Wonka-ish". I expected it to have some humour or quirkiness about it. I didn't feel it if humour was meant to be there. If it was intended to be a serious piece, I'm not sure if the illustrious clock type characters were the right type of characters to use in the setting.

I suggest you take the time to work on your audio skills and knowledge, or collaborate with someone who has the experience.

Good luck on future projects.

RadioTubeClock responds:

Thanks for the review. I've since worked in Audacity to balance the voices better in my future voices and my voice actors have improved themselves as well. I've been working on pacing my stuff better as well.

Nice idea, nice production values - but ultimately, WAY too much going on screen to enjoy. Looking forward to seeing some more from you, that is, stuff that I can actually watch and see what is going on :-)

NightmareCinemas responds:

cool i ll try to be less chaotic in my vid :D but youll enjoy my other normal videos on youtube check them out and leave a comment if you enjoy them and what you wanna see next :)

Would have liked to see a bit more for opening the story up, feels like a super sneak peak of a trailer. Like others had said, text is uncomfortable to read, and definitely need a mute button option. I don't think the music adds anything to the comic, just feels like it's there for the sake of it.

Some of the motion didn't really work for me either. If you are going make a flash comic, how much motion inside of the frames instead of just moving the pages around? That would be nice, wouldn't have to be all out animation, just some motion. You could add sound but only where it's going to add something to the immersion.

Good luck.

Cel-Studios responds:

thanks for the feedback.u had some good points, i'm still learning flash,i hope to have the kinks worked out by the time i post the next one

I'm not familiar with Whiz, but really, it didn't detract too much from the comedy. I'm guessing there were a few in-jokes that I missed. You had me chuckling a few times, but not outright laughter. The animation is pretty nice. Voice acting quality, spoken and technical quality are good, that makes all the difference between an average animation and good one. Plot and script was fairly tight, I just felt like the ending didn't really wrap it up for me - good have easily finished with the Pimp Gumby cruising off and Whiz wailing like a baby.

Look forward to some more of the series.

xCRISTYLx responds:

Yes, there were some jokes related to the celebrities. Glad you liked man. Thanks for lending ur time. I thought about ending it like that as well but wanted to add a lil more. I'll keep these coming. Subscribe to YouTube. Thanks much.

Nice concept piece

Great. Like the concept and the execution. Some inconsistency in style, but not that much of a problem that it spoils the movie.

Per previous reviews (7scars, Sandbagger) this kind of piece does not require plot, story, or any jokes.

Good collaboration - you should all work together again soon.

MorrowDays responds:

thanks, it would be pretty hard to achieve perfect consistency between very differing animators, but personally, Im happy with what we've got.

a lot of us really want to do a sequel, so I think that'll be in the cards. stay tuned ;)

moro

Lots of fun, and just plain awesome

Good choice of song, the movement is great with the dude boogying along.

This would be great fully fleshed out with psychadelic backgrounds, and maybe extend the playtime and have a bit of a journey.

Top stuff.

DonkeysBazooka responds:

theres always Flash Dancer 2

Awesomely funny

This is great. Nice style, good execution, perfect length for a joke like this.

Would like to see some more.

DonkeysBazooka responds:

but you just said its the perfect length! now youve got me all confused!

Mostly boring

You artwork is fine, but your storytelling and pace is pretty ordinary. There a lot of these type of parodies on Newgrounds more of recent. You need to be more original, have your own edge or angle.

Shadowii2 responds:

I suppose so, thanks for the review and your opinion.

Nice but

How'd you manage to get that file so large? Are you familiar with compressing images for the web? The only things I can see that would account for the file size is the background image and the music.
You shoud really optimise the background image, and try to learn something about audio files, bit rates and all that jazz.
I've given you 5 because I like your idea and your style would be cool once developed. You lost the other 5 to technical reasons.
You should try and optimise this file and upload it again to NG.

Cheers

stoneseeker responds:

hmm. yeah... thanks for the crit, I am used to just exporting as .mov's, and have never had to deal with making it web friendly (as I work for TV not web)
It's still certainly manageable to watch so I threw it up anyway, but for the future I will need to learn to compress better. If you have a link or two to some basic tips on how to "optimize" a jpeg and/or music without sacrificing too much qt, that would be even more helpful. Either way, I know there is a lot of info on this site to dig through when I get the chance. thanks for taking the time to help.

Drawing, and painting, wishing I was animating, doo, doo ta doo, dah!
